Become a homestay

Concorde International is recruiting families / hosts who are interested in hosting foreign students throughout the year.

Our international students come to the UK for a full immersion experience, and by hosting foreign students with us you become an essential part of their programme. Students choose to stay with a host family because of the cultural experience provided – simple day-to-day conversations over dinner, shopping trips and of course your own family and friends who visit, all provide additional learning and cultural insights.

Our hosts are from a variety of backgrounds – local families, young couples, retirees, professionals and parents with children who have recently left home.

We welcome students throughout the year and are looking for welcoming hosts to accommodate juniors or adults.

Adult Students 18+

  • Mostly single rooms, longer stays typically of 4 weeks or more.
  • Breakfast and dinner provided by the hosts.
  • Bedrooms need to have a desk and chair / space to study.
  • Wardrobe / drawers for clothes.
  • A clean, comfortable, well-lit room with sufficient light, heating and ventilation.

Junior Students and Young Adults 11-17

  • Typical stays are from 1 week to 4 weeks.
  • Mostly twin rooms, maximum 4 students per house.
  • Wardrobe / drawers for clothes.
  • Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner provided by the hosts.
  • A clean, comfortable, well-lit room with sufficient light, heating and ventilation.

General Requirements

  • On their first day we ask hosts to help our students to get to school, whether on foot or by local bus, and to help them to familiarise themselves with the local area.
  • Bed linen and towels to be provided and laundered on a weekly basis.
  • Regular access to the bathroom and communal areas, the same as a regular member of the family.
  • General welfare and help to keep our students safe, fed and rested.
  • Opportunity for our students to practice their English

  • Monetary remuneration to support your household and to cover the costs of hosting our students

Application Process

  • We will arrange a visit to your home by one of our Homestay Organisers to discuss hosting in more detail.
  • We will discuss your preferences (for example, you may prefer to host adults only) and dates of availability.
  • We will go through the application process with you as part of our British Council Accreditation.
  • We will carry out DBS checks on the household and advise about Gas Safe certificates and basic fire evacuation procedures.
  • We will give you some safeguarding training and advice for hosting.
