Safeguarding & Welfare

Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

Concorde International believes that safeguarding children, young persons and vulnerable adults is fundamental to the way that we operate our schools. Concorde International as an organisation, and the individuals within the organisation, takes all reasonable steps to protect its students from harm, discrimination or treatment that would have a negative effect on their safety or wellbeing.
This policy applies to all employees, Homestay hosts, Overseas Group Leaders and Agents, students and anyone working on behalf of Concorde International, including third party providers.

The purpose of this policy is:
• To provide protection for children, young persons and vulnerable adults who come to Concorde International on any of its courses, both online and at our schools
• To provide its employees with guidance and procedures to follow in the event of an incident or if they suspect someone may be experiencing, or be at risk of, harm or abuse

We recognise that:
• The welfare of a child / young person and vulnerable adults is paramount
• All students, regardless of age, gender, race, disability, religion, sexual orientation or identity, have the right to equal protection from harm or abuse

We aim to safeguard our students by:
• Recruiting employees and Homestay hosts safely and ensuring all necessary security checks are made
• Training our employees to Level 1 standard and ensuring they know who to speak to
• Ensuring any third party providers follow our guidelines while delivering services on our behalf
• Sharing information about child protection and safeguarding with children, parents, Group Leaders, agents, staff and visitors
• Maintaining professional relationships with Local Safeguarding Authorities and sharing information with those authorities who need to know
• Providing ongoing management and training for staff

Steps taken to ensure the welfare of our students:
• All employees have a current DBS check and there is a strict recruitment procedure in place
• Three members of staff at Management level trained as Designated Safeguarding Leads (Level 3)
• Dedicated Designated Safeguarding Staff (Level 2) at each of our sites
• All students are given an induction lesson highlighting the rules for that centre
• Dedicated 24 hour emergency number and staff available
• All students get given a Concorde International ID badge and lanyard or wristband to be worn at all times
• Additional support provided for individuals through an appointed member of staff who will act as their Group Leader and point of reference
• Overseas Group Leaders accompanying students have sent a declaration of their suitability to work with children and young persons
• All overseas Group Leaders are given an induction talk when they arrive which details their responsibilities towards their group, working as an adult in a school environment and information who to talk to as needed.
