If you're aged 12-18 and looking for a place to study English in London over the summer, there's nowhere better than Concorde's brand new premier centre set in the middle of historical Greenwich at the Royal Naval College.
Greenwich is a great place to visit during the summer months. Set on the bank of the Thames on the outer edges of London, it is a very beautiful location with plenty of places to visit and things to enjoy whether you're into history or just want to get a taste of cosmopolitan London life!
Greenwich is home to The National Maritime Museum, a UNESCO world heritage site, and also the famous Royal Observatory. These are both places of national interest and historic importance to Britain.
Both are set in the beautiful Greenwich Park, one of London’s eight Royal Parks. Greenwich is actually the oldest Royal Park and dates back to 1427. Greenwich Park was made famous across the world last summer when it was used for many of the Olympic 2012 events, including equestrian and modern pentathlon. The Royal Artillery Barracks were also used for the archery and shooting events.
There is also the ancient boat Cutty Sark to visit in Greenwich. This historic ship was used during the age of the British Empire to transport goods including tea across the world. It has recently been refurbished and redisplayed to show it off at its best.
If you want something more unusual then try the tunnel under the river that allows you to walk underneath to the opposite bank of the Thames! The tunnel runs between Cutty Sark Gardens and Island Gardens on the Isle of Dogs.
The heart of Greenwich itself is also a very interesting place. There are some great shops and traditional British pubs as well as a lively market selling crafts and gifts. Greenwich has a real village feel and those that live there enjoy being close to London but living in a more close-knit community.
So if you are looking for a great part of London to enjoy the summer then Greenwich could be the perfect place to stay. There is so much to see and do and it is a really beautiful place.
