Enjoy Notting Hill Carnival this Summer

Concorde’s got the rhythm, the beat, the BIG Sound and colour! It’s Carnival time in August! Come and join the biggest street party in Europe!

carnival.jpgEvery year since 1964, the West End of London has come alive in a spectacle of colour and sounds over the August Bank Holiday, turning an area of London into Europe’s biggest street party. The Carnival  draws from many different and diverse ethnic communities and is full of history and traditions. Whole streets in London’s Notting Hill quarter are closed to cars - it becomes a Pedestrians Only party Zone!

The Carnival runs throughout the August Bank Holiday weekend, taking place Sunday 25th and Monday 26th of August 2013 . The special Children’s Carnival starts off the celebrations on Sunday (an unmissable event for grown-ups and children!)  and the full Carnival on the Monday. The Carnival bands start arriving as early as 9am and the Carnival procession itself should be finished by 7pm.

It is not just the music and the elaborate costumes donned by the revellers and those in the parade that the which makes the Carnival famous. It’s also the amazing variety of ‘finger licking’ food on offer! All authentic and freshly cooked food which will have your mouth watering! The food is typically Caribbean and West Indian dishes such as Jerk Chicken, Curries, Patties, and Fried Plantains (Banana),..mmmm! Just the wonderful smell of lovely fragranced and spiced food filling the street air..it is not to be missed!

When you visit, remember to download your copy of the Notting Hill Carnival app which shows the Carnival route, sound systems, toilets, food and transport links on interactive maps.
