Aiko from Berlin shares his Concorde Experience

Aiko Premier came to Concorde in 2003, he tells us what has happened to him since then,

My name is Aiko and I`m from Berlin but have lived and worked in England since August 2004. The first time I came to England in 2003 was with a group of students from Germany.

At the time we were only staying for 3 weeks. 1 week of language school at Concorde International and 2 weeks work experience with local businesses organised by Concorde. I had a great time at school, living with my host family and working at A Freight Express business based in Dover.

Unfortunately the 3 weeks went past quicker than I thought but I already knew that I would have the opportunity to come back to England for 6 months after I finished my training as a commercial assistant for foreign languages in Germany. I kept in touch with the company doing a few translations of German letters and the company webpage.

In August 2004 I finally returned to England and the company took me on for work experience once again. I have been trained up ever since and now I am an Operations Manager involved in the day to day running of the business.

My job involves a wide variety of tasks from quoting a customer, organising and monitoring the transport door to door, managing the warehouse staff and the drivers, controlling the fleet maintenance, recruiting new staff and a lot more.

So all in all it has been a great experience for me so far and I’ll never regret to have taken the step to do work experience abroad as it has opened up a whole new world of opportunities for me.

On a personal note I’d also like to mention that I will get married to my fiancée Eva in Slovakia this year and we have just bought a house together in Canterbury. By the way I met Eva at Concorde International Language School!
