Cambridge
Cambridge and the surrounding area is an ideal base to discover the East of England.
Home to one of the world's greatest universities, Cambridge has a lively student culture. Many of the college buildings are architectural masterpieces, both ancient and modern. There are six theatres, two concert halls, several pop music venues and 15 cinema screens in the city. Many of the chapel choirs sing evensong every day and also perform public concerts. The city has a wealth of bookshops, a fine museum, The Fitzwilliam, a number of art galleries, the best being Kettle's Yard.
The School
This is well established girl's day and boarding school in the heart of Cambridge.
The classrooms are a good size for classes of 12 - 15 students, with a light and airy outlook.
In the afternoon there will be activities, sports, arts, crafts, drama and project work taking place in the area of the school. There is a new swimming pool and sports centre just a short walk from the school. The large grassy area known as Parker's Peace is also close to the school with the pedestrianised shopping centre opposite.
The Accommodation
Residential
The residential accommodation at St.Mary's school comprises of rooms with one, two and three bedded rooms. There are some larger rooms for students who want to be together. There are separate sections for the boys and girls. This accommodation will mainly be allocated to students aged 12-15years of age.
Older students are accommodated in university accommodation close to the school. Homerton College is just 20 minutes walk from St Mary’s school. St Chad’s is a little father away and students will be transferred to and from St Mary’s school by coach each morning and evening.
The university accommodation is in single study bedrooms with shared facilities. The students staying in this accommodation will simply sleep there and take all lessons, meals activities and excursions at St Mary’s school. Our staff will provide supervision in the accommodation as well as escorting the students to and from the school each day.
Homestay
Our students will stay with local homestay families and travel into the city each day for their lessons. The families provide breakfast only. Hot lunch and dinner are provided in the college each day. Weekly bus passes may be required and were £10 per week in 2008.
